Hi I'm Thalia! I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering with a minor in Spanish at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where I have completed advanced coursework in biology, chemistry, genetics, biochemistry, engineering, and mathematics. Throughout my education, I have learned that understanding a subject comes from more than memorizing facts, but instead comes from having someone explain difficult concepts in a way that makes sense. That philosophy guides my tutoring. I enjoy breaking challenging topics into manageable steps, encouraging students to ask questions, and adapting my explanations until they feel confident solving problems independently. My goal is not only to help students earn better grades but also to help them become more confident learners.

Over the past several years, I have gained experience teaching and mentoring students in a variety of settings. As a nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and CPR instructor, I teach technical skills that require clear communication, patience, and the ability to adjust my instruction to different experience levels. At MIT, I mentor and train new members through MIT EMS, educate prospective students and families as an MIT Admissions Tour Guide, and have volunteered as a tutor and mentor for younger students in both one on one and small group settings. I have also taught biology to high school students during educational outreach in Mexico, which gave me experience explaining scientific concepts to learners from different backgrounds and language abilities.

I enjoy working with middle school, high school, and college students, particularly in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and related STEM subjects. Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual goals and learning style. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building the confidence they need to succeed inside the classroom.
