I’m currently a student at Duke University double majoring in Biology and Philosophy with a minor in Chemistry on the pre-med track. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in STEM subjects and academic writing. Throughout high school and college, I have taken advanced coursework in biology, chemistry, humanities, and writing-intensive classes. My academic experiences have taught me not only how to succeed in challenging subjects, but also how important it is to have supportive mentors who can explain concepts in a clear and encouraging way.
I have experience working with students in both formal and informal mentoring settings. For three years, I provided one-on-one academic support through a middle school enrichment program in New York City called INES. I also worked as a camp counselor and junior tennis instructor at SPORTIME for four summers, where I worked closely with younger students in both educational and team settings. In addition, I volunteered with Ballet & Books, helping teach ballet lessons while promoting literacy and confidence in young students.
I enjoy helping students break down difficult concepts into manageable steps rather than relying on memorization alone. My teaching style is patient, interactive, and personalized to each student’s learning style. As a dyslexic student myself, I understand that many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because subjects like chemistry or math can feel intimidating without the right support. I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence over time.
In addition to STEM tutoring, I also provide support with college applications, essays, and study skills. During my freshman year at Duke, I worked with juniors and seniors from my high school to review essays and provide application guidance. My goal is to help students put their best foot forward while building confidence in their own abilities.
