Hi, my name is Juan. I’m a third-year mechanical engineering student at Northeastern University, and I tutor mathematics.
I’ve been tutoring math for several years. In high school, I worked at Mathnasium, helping a wide range of students learn everything from elementary math through algebra and SAT math. More recently at Northeastern, I’ve been part of the peer tutoring program, where I’ve tutored students in Calculus I and Calculus II.
The subjects I tutor are elementary math, Algebra I and II, trigonometry, precalculus, Calculus I and II, and SAT math.
Math has always been my favorite subject, and love being able to share my enthusiasm for it. I feel a lot of joy helping students build confidence and see improvement in their exams. I truly believe anyone can understand math—it usually just takes the right explanation to make things click.
My teaching style is concept-focused but also very test-prep oriented. I like to explain why things work, not just what steps to follow. I also believe repetition is key so we'll go through a lot of practice problems together to build a real understanding.
Because I’m also a student, I understand what it’s like to be learning this material right now—what’s confusing, what actually helps, and how frustrating math can feel when it hasn’t clicked yet. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions. There’s truly no such thing as a bad one.
Outside of academics, I’m originally from Miami, I speak Spanish, and I enjoy basketball, songwriting, and chess.
I’d be very happy to work with you. Let’s get to know each other make math fun while working toward your goals.
