Versatile High School/College STEM Tutor

Hello, I'm Jackie! I'm a college student currently attending Boston University pursuing degrees in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Physics as well as a minor in Math. I have a strong background primarily in calculus, linear algebra, computer programming, and physics, but I'm willing to tutor other STEM-specific subjects as well!

Before college, I completed 22 AP courses, so I'm very experienced with the structure and expectations of AP courses and exams. I understand where students commonly get stuck and how to approach problems students frequently get stuck on. I have one year of one-on-one tutoring experience in all levels of high school math and some high school science, as well as some experience giving full lectures to classes. My experience with AP courses and previous experience with high school students means I primarily tutor high school students, but I am open to tutoring early undergrad students as well!

My teaching style is very focused on deep understanding of material. I start by identifying where confusion begins, then break concepts down step-by-step to the fundamentals using clear explanations and examples. Rather than memorizing formulas, I work on teaching why things work so students can confidently apply those ideas on not only their homework and exams, but also in anyway outside the classroom as well. My goal for each student is to leave each session being more in control of the material with a clearer and deeper understanding of concepts.
