Hi! I'm Max. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Chicago, where I double majored in Computer Science and Philosophy. Since then, I've been working as a researcher at a Neurology lab at Harvard, with a focus on identifying potential treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. I have some formal experience in a teaching role as a camp counselor, but it's through my research job that I've discovered a real interest in tutoring; as one of the few members of the lab with a computational background, a large part of my role is in helping the clinicians understand the data science.
I am available to tutor for Math, Physics, Computer Science, English, or standardized test prep (SAT, SSAT, ACT... anything but the MCAT!). I scored a 1590 on the SAT and my academic background covers all standard high school Math and Science topics, as well as many electives, including linear algebra, real analysis, and special relativity.
I can do online sessions or meet in person, depending on distance. I know that schedules can become quite busy and I'm fortunate to have a job with very flexible hours, so I'm happy to work around your commitments. I also understand that the academic workload can be bumpy as students encounters especially challenging units or in the week(s) before an exam, and I can accommodate with scheduling additional lessons as needed. There is no single best way to learn for everyone, and I want to work with the student to determine what is right for them.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions of are interested in scheduling a lesson!
