Hi, I am Ram, I recently graduated with a PhD in Physics from Boston University. Additionally, I have an M.S in Physics from University of Oregon, and B.S in Physics & Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. I have also worked as a software engineer, primarily working with Python and C++.
I had the opportunity to lead a tutoring program for ECE at Georgia Tech, and tutored various mid-level courses. In this program, I held weekly office hours and guided students through homework and test preparations. I was a teaching fellow for general physics I and II, and physics I and II for engineering students for about 6 semesters. I facilitated group discussions while making sure everyone was comfortable with the conceptual leaps, held discussion sections where I helped students of various levels tackle complex problems, and held office hours where I helped about 5 students weekly with their homework sets and test preparations. I had a steady group of students who showed up weekly and I developed good rapport, and had the opportunity to adapt to different learning styles.
Additionally, I had short stints tutoring a high school student for Japanese college exam preparation, and helped a community college student with some practical geometric problems for carpentry.
In general, I try to motivate problems and concepts, breakdown problems to allow the student themselves to make conceptual leaps or figure out what they are getting stuck on. Sometimes, if the student is already skilled but is missing a trick or a concept, I will guide them through my thinking process, to allow them to succeed on their own.
