I'm John! I graduated with a 4.0 GPA from high school in the D.C area and am currently enrolled as a student in Northeastern University's College of Engineering. Throughout my education, I have found that the best way to improve at any subject is to understand it at a fundamental level, yet oftentimes instructors would provide the bare necessities to complete the exam. My best educational experiences were the ones were I was learning from someone who had a passion for the subject and would go into detail of not only how to solve a problem, but why it is solved the way it is! I have also found that sometimes pressure is put on students which makes their learning environment difficult for some. I strive to provide the learning environment that I have always thrived in which is a laid back yet comprehensive environment where concepts are fully explained without it feeling like sitting in a lecture and soaking in loads of information all at once! This means giving a student the knowledge they need, explaining it so they feel comfortable, and after they've mastered the given topic, extending their knowledge to ensure they can tackle even the trickiest of questions!
I have about a year of tutoring experience with kids of all ages ranging from kindergarteners to seniors in high school. This consisted of both one on one homework help, test preparation, and some small group sessions as well. I have worked both with students needing additional assistance, and those wishing to get ahead of their peers!
My goal is to have every student that meets with me leave their session having learned something or feeling more confident than when they came in.
