Hi! My name is Anna and I am an alumni from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production and a minor in Teaching Contemporary Voice. Throughout my degree I have taken extensive courses in contemporary/jazz harmony, classical harmony, arranging, orchestration, and production. I have composed for orchestra, string quintets/quartets, vocal ensembles, and more, and have many resources to help students in these areas from my time at Berklee.
During my degree, I studied vocal pedagogy through a series of pedagogy courses, body awareness training class, teacher observations, and apprentice lessons. My teaching philosophy emanates from a place of curiosity, empathy, and kindness. I believe that students learn best when they are encouraged by their teacher through positive affirmations, constructive feedback, and personalized tools to improve. I want students to have a safe space to ask questions, try new things, and develop their skills. I love to explore topics with students and help them reach their goals while adapting to each students' needs.
If you need any assistance with your music theory, music production, arranging/orchestration, or wish to study voice with me, I would love to be of your service in the best way I can. :)

Ear Training

Ear Training

I have experience in ear training in both classical harmony as well as jazz and contemporary harmony through 4 levels of classes dedicated to ear training at Berklee College of Music. The classes were designed around rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic dictation. Through the different levels of these courses we were assessed on chromatic solfège, secondary dominants, modulations, and concurrent melodic, rhythmic and harmonic dictation. I assist students through practice using solfège or numbers (student preference), while breaking down each separate element of dictation at the student’s preferred pace.
General Music

General Music

I hold a Bachelors of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production with a minor in Teaching Contemporary Voice from Berklee College of Music. Throughout my degree, my primary focuses have been in music production, arranging, orchestration, and mixing; whilst the core classes of my degree have been various levels of conducting, ear training, harmony, and counterpoint. My minor in Teaching Contemporary Voice has allowed me to explore different methods of teaching as well as the physiological and anatomical processes of the voice. It has provided me the tools to create a teaching philosophy centered in kindness, empathy, and curiosity while nurturing my responsibility to be adaptable towards my student’s individual needs.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

My experience in sight singing includes 4 levels of ear training courses, 2 levels of classical ear training, and 10+ years of choral experience inducing jazz, classical and contemporary styles. Throughout my education, I have been assessed on various sight singing skills including but not limited to chromatic solfège, sight singing through modulation, and rhythmic sight reading. Through my choral background, I have been a part of Berklee’s Advanced Vocal Jazz Choir, NC Honors Choirs, University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s University Chorale. My approach to assisting students with sight singing is to build a foundation of solfège and progress through various difficulties of musical exercises, aligning with the student’s specific needs.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

Throughout my minor in “Teaching Contemporary Voice”, a sample of courses I have taken are body awareness training, vocal pedagogy I & II, and comparative pedagogy. I have learned about the physiological and anatomically processes of the voice and gained an understanding of various pedagogical methods through teacher observations, research, and apprentice lessons. My personal teaching philosophy emanates from a place of curiosity, empathy, and kindness; believing that students learn best when they are encouraged by their teacher through positive affirmations, constructive feedback, and personalized tools to improve. My responsibilities to my students are to help them achieve their personal singing goals and adapt to their needs as a teacher.
