Hi there! I'm an experienced and patient tutor with about 5 years of experience. I'm recently graduated Williams College with degrees in mathematics and chemistry, and I plan to eventually attend medical school. Over the last 5 years, I have tutored middle school and high school students one on one both in-person and online in mathematics including prealgebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, and precalculus. I have also worked as a peer tutor, helping college students work through homework and prepare for exams across a wide range of science and math subjects including general chemistry 1 and 2, organic chemistry 1 and 2, structural and metabolic biochemistry, introductory biology, and calculus. Additionally, I have worked as a teaching assistant for introductory biology lab and pharmacology lab, so I'm comfortable helping students with questions specific to laboratory courses. I also conduct independent research in both enzymology, studying specialized plant metabolism, and differential equations, studying infectious disease modeling.
I have also experience taking multiple standardized tests including the ACT (scored 35), MCAT (scored 524), AP Chemistry (scored 5), IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL (scored 7), and IB Biology HL (scored 7), so I'm happy to help with exam prep!
I firmly believe that science and math are learned through practice! I encourage students to spend less time passively reading textbooks and more time applying what they've learned through practice problems. Additionally, I acknowledge that learning is a very individualized process. Given my experience teaching students at all educational levels, I'm adept at adapting my teaching style to support the needs of individual students; whether you're grappling with challenging new content in class, preparing for an exam, or just in need of more practice, I'm happy to help!
