In my pursuit of this passion, I earned two degrees: a Master of Arts in Latin and Classical Humanities from UMass Boston and a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient Greek and Latin from Boston University.
Over the past fifteen years, I have taught Latin in a variety of settings – ranging from middle school classrooms and advanced high school courses to personalized tutoring sessions for learners of all ages. Since the fall of 2019, I have taught Latin at The Park School in Brookline, Massachusetts, where I designed engaging and differentiated lessons for students in grades five through eight. Before this role, I spent nearly a decade teaching Latin to high school students at Boston Preparatory Charter Public School in Boston, Massachusetts, where my students learned advanced Latin syntax and read the works of Cicero, Caesar, Virgil. My teaching emphasizes joy, clarity, and accessibility for all learners. With a scaffolded, rigorous course of study, my students internalize grammatical paradigms for the language, develop study skills for assessments, and gain an appreciation for the artistry of ancient Roman texts.
In tutoring, I draw upon my extensive classroom experience to diagnose each child’s learning needs and tailor a curriculum, which reinforces the individual’s strengths and prior knowledge, remediates skill deficits, and aligns tutoring sessions with each student's academic goals. Through these tutoring sessions, I aim not only for my students to succeed academically but also to grow in confidence with the material.
