Hi! My name is Lydia. I am currently in my fourth year, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. I have had a lifelong passion for math, starting at a young age, when I would often be found teaching math to my dolls. I am passionate about helping others to discover the natural joy and beauty of math. I strive to foster a mindset that math does not need to be feared, and that all it takes to be “good” at math is a willingness to make mistakes and ask questions. I am highly qualified in multiple subjects of math and would be comfortable tutoring many math subjects including Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, High School Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Probability, and Statistics.
I have a strong educational background, as I have taken many math courses so far (all of which I have received an A+ in) including: Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, Introduction to Proofs, College Geometry, MATLAB, Statistics with R, Probability, Abstract Algebra, and Math Modeling. I am also pursuing a minor in math education, and have taken courses in both education and psychology, providing me with the skillset to provide a holistic learning experience, supportive of not only a student's academic needs, but social-emotional needs as well.
I also have virtual tutoring experience with both high school and college age students, including students with learning disabilities and additional needs. I am confident that I have the skillset and technological tools to provide a seamless and engaging virtual learning experience. All students learn best in different ways, so I strive to use a diverse array of strategies to make my lessons engaging and understandable to all students.
