My teaching style is very student driven. My teaching style is very student driven. Everyone has a distinct and unique voice and my job as a teacher is not to make a student be able to play like me, but to help a student develop and understand the tools they need in order to develop their own voice. Aside of this though, I of course have expectations and requirements for any and every student, such as developing a physically and mentally healthy relationship with our instruments, i.e. learning how to play with both proper and healthy technique, and developing a growth mindset that will allow us to think about ourselves and our musical peers in a manner that is constructive and helpful.

Hello! My name is Evan C, Boston local, guitar/bass teacher, and Berklee student. Having been playing for the past 8 years, I have gathered experience in a number of different areas. Beginning my journey playing Rock and Metal, and slowly moving towards Jazz and more contemporary styles like Pop, and even spending some time studying Classical. I picked up bass shortly after starting guitar, and have garnered a lot of knowledge playing a number of different styles, and working in different bands in and around Boston. Within the spectrum of learning how to play either bass or guitar, I am knowledgable on composition on both. Also having some past experience and playing drums and the piano, I can offer a broad eduction and a deeper understanding on music across the board, and understanding how our instruments fit in with the other instruments in a band.

As a young student and teacher, I am most excited to work hands on with students of all ages! Music, like life is, a journey, and we're all learning all the time, and we usually learn a lot more and have lot more fun when we do it together.

Ear Training

Ear Training

Upon entering Berklee, I tested into ear-training level 3, of the 4 levels of ear training that Berklee offers. Most students will typically enter at level 1 and work up to 4, but I have had a number of years of experience with ear training prior to attending Berklee.
General Music

General Music

My primary instruments are guitar and bass, while I also have a number of years of experience as both a drummer and a pianist. I have a great knowledge of music theory and it how it applies to various instruments, as well as the theory of drumming and studying rudiments.
Songwriting

Songwriting

Playing in bands for a number of years, as well as working on solo projects containing original material, and studying song-structure and song-form at Berklee, have given me a lot of hands on skills with song-writing. I currently co-write with Kayla Silverman, here is a link to her music, https://open.spotify.com/artist/5GjXyPJLoSigKozdZ8UV3f.
