I'm a senior lecturer in Photography and Photojournalism at a university in Boston and a freelance photographer for 30 years, so have a tremendous amount of real world experience. I also lead college study abroad photography and photojournalism classes to Europe and Africa, most recently to Italy and Spain in 2011 and 2013 respectively. Many students have taken my classes over the years and are quite happy with my teaching methods and style.
Keeping things basic and not too technical is the key to learning photography, especially with the transition from traditional photography to the digital world of picture making.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a photography lecturer at a university in Boston and teach many classes in photography and photojournalism including traditional and digital. My classes include beginning photography, photojournalism, advanced photojournalism, and a class in digital photography for artists and designers. I also lead study abroad classes to Europe and Africa.
Photography is all about the basics whether a student wants to learn about picture making in the areas of portrait, landscape, or fine art photography or another area.
