My name is Julie and I love chemistry. My goal is to help you through this challenging subject. You may even find that chemistry is in your future after having success in your current course.

As a high school and college teacher and with over 25 years of experience in the classroom, I have worked with students of every skill level, recognize areas more challenging to students, and have had success helping young people become chemistry literate. In the 10 years that I have been tutoring, chemistry has been my focus - teaching students to become better and more independent chemistry learners, supporting students to better understand new concepts, and help prep students for finals and the chemistry ap. I will tailor the tutoring sessions to your specific needs. This includes helping you get more out of your daily chemistry classes.

Tutoring help can be one-on-one or in small groups. The Wyzant online tool allows me to reach everyone, no matter your location. Let me know how I can help.

Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I have been a high school teacher for chemistry and physics for the past 18 years. This experience and observations of the successes and difficulties of my students has prepared me to help young people with this challenging subject. With a little help on the concepts, some work on note-taking, and individual attention, success is assured.
Physical Science

Physical Science

Physics Science deals primarily with areas of chemistry, physics, and earth science. This is my specialty since my Ph.D. is in chemistry and I have been teaching chemistry and physics at Deerfield Academy for the past 17 years.
Sewing

Sewing

General Household Sewing Techniques: Use and maintenance of a sewing machine, following patterns, cutting material, sewing seams, zippers, using Velcro, making curtains, duvet covers, pillows covers, chair cushions, general household sewing needs I have been sewing for the home and friends for over 30 years. A neighbor gave me my first lessons as a child and later developed my skills with experience. For the past 15 years I have expanded my household sewing to include furniture upholstery.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As a chemistry and physics teacher for 18 years, I have worked with students who have excelled and those who have struggled in their academics. I believe in the importance of adequate preparation, good note-taking, thorough material review, and the pursuit of answers to or clarification of topics that are incompletely understood. This is all a part of the development of good study skills. Performance in a class can improve and become more enjoyable once a young person knows how to better organize work and study.

Organized, knowledgable, and very patient tutor!

I worked with Julie for a full semester. I'm a college level chemistry student, who had never taken any chemistry. I'm very grateful to Julie, she taught me all the material I needed to know! She was able to teach me entire lessons, on the fly, with just a text book to guide us. Julie did a much better job teaching me than my college professor, and made chemistry straight forward! I felt very well-versed in the material after my sessions with Julie, and in the end, received an A+ in my class. Julie was always calm and patient with my many questions, and her kind demeanor helped set me at ease with a subject that can be tedious. She is extremely knowledgeable and is able to convey complex chemistry concepts through analogies and visuals. Through the Wyzant online tutoring software, she would write notes that I would refer to later. She is a skilled teacher and an expert in chemistry. I highly recommend working with her!

Godsend Angel to My Daughter!

My daughter is a sophomore in high school who has been struggling with some chemistry topics for months and really needed some help before her final next week. Julie was so nice to help my daughter even though it was getting late for her on the east coast. Julie is such a godsend angel who totally saved the day today! She is so kind, patient and explains chemistry concepts in a way that helps my daughter problem solve. I’ve never seen my daughter exiting a tutoring lesson with such a big smile. Thank you so much again for such a successful first lesson!

Through, Patient, and supportive!

I started working with Julie when my fourth midterm grade was returned a week before the final and I found it had dropped my chemistry grade to nearly an F. Julie worked with me everyday to review the entire semester's worth of material and did so wonderfully. She was so sweet and patient with me and made me gain so much confidence in the subject through her support. Not only did I pass the class but my exam grade brought my class grade up to a C.
