In addition to my classical training, I have a graduate degree in Jazz, and I always tailor my teaching approach to the needs and interests of the individual students. My students have won competitions, gained seats in state orchestras, and obtained scholarships to study music in college.

Music Theory

Music Theory

I have three graduate degrees in music (two master's, one in classical and one in modern, and an artist diploma) from Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. I have served as a music faculty member at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY, for four years. There, I taught music theory to both majors and non-majors, among other courses.
Violin

Violin

I have been playing violin for all but the first three years of my life. I am a graduate of the Vitola Latvian National Conservatory. In addition, I hold Masters Degrees both in classical and jazz violin performances, and an Artist Diploma in solo performance, all from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. I won the Latvian National Competition at the age of 11, and was the only violinist selected by the Longy School to participate in the Chamber Music workshop with Isaac Stern at Carnegie Hall. My career combines performance and teaching. I have extensive experience teaching violin to students from age 4 to professional adults, with a focus on proper technique and clean intonation. I have taught at a university and at several music schools, and have served as music director of several youth ensembles. In addition to lessons, I also offer audition preparation and performance workshops to individuals and ensembles. Whether you or your child are new to the violin, or a more advanced student who is trying to get to the next level, or a professional musician looking for performance coaching to reach your full potential, I can help you nurture your inner musician and become the best violin player you can be. My students have ranged from four-year old beginners and school-age students to music school teachers and symphony orchestra members. My high school students have gone on to obtain positions in state youth orchestras, and to study music at the Berklee School of Music. Most importantly, they all continue loving music and cherish their special connection to it.
