Bonjour! ¡Hola! Hello! My name is Caitlin, and I am a French, Spanish, and ESL teacher and tutor with over ten years of teaching experience. I received my B.A. in French from Bates College where I graduated magna cum laud with departmental honors. While in college, I spend a year studying abroad in Nantes, France. Before attending graduate school, I received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to teach English at the Université libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium. I received my M.A. in French from Yale University.
Upon completion of my Masters degree, I began teaching French, Spanish, and ESL at private schools throughout New England. I love teaching and tutoring and sharing my passion for learning languages. I believe that learning another language allows one to seek awareness beyond oneself and to better understand others. It is always my goal to meet my students where they are and to make them feel more comfortable to take risks to engage with the target language.
Beyond my experience teaching English in Belgium, I have also taught ESL to high school students. Specifically, I helped students develop their vocabulary, and reading and writing skills. Finally, I have volunteered teaching adult students with little to no prior experience with the English language to help them develop basic conversational skills.
I have taught all levels of high school French, ranging from beginner through AP over the course of more than ten years. In addition, I have led students one-on-one with independent studies to pursue their specific interests in French. In Spanish, I have taught middle school students through third year high school classes. My family is also multilingual.
I’d love to help you realize your language learning goals whether it may be reviewing for an upcoming assessment, using the target language more conversationally, or preparing for a presentation, project, or essay.
