I'm constantly impressed by Aki's ability to quickly identify my strengths and weaknesses - not just when it comes to Japanese, but also in terms of my overall learning style. I have been meeting with Aki weekly for the last year and a half to improve my Japanese language skills. I cannot say enough great things about her kindness and skill as a tutor. She is warm, engaging, and maybe most importantly, our lessons feel personal. I get to have real conversations about real life with Aki, and my Japanese has been improving consistently with her support. She tailors my new vocabulary to the topics and areas of life that are of interest to me. She really makes it comfortable to practice and work through mistakes to grow. And we laugh all the time. I did not know that language lessons could be so fun and still challenge me every week. As a queer person, it is wonderful to get to discuss aspects of queer culture in the context of our lessons.
