About Sylvie: Summary
I am a French native from the greater Paris region. I have experience tutoring French to youth and adults. I love to share my knowledge of French and/or French culture with motivated individuals and see them smile because they "get it"!
Education: graduate degrees in Engineering and Management from Pierre et Marie Curie University (Paris), University of Rhode Island, and MIT/Sloan.

I was born and raised near Paris. That is also where I went to school and graduated with an Engineering degree from the famous Pierre et Marie Curie University. (This is where such luminaries as the Curies, Jacques Monod, and others taught and carried out Nobel Prize level research.)

I pursued my studies in the States, with MS degrees in Engineering and Management at URI, and MIT. I love learning and this, I believe, goes well along with teaching.

I have experience tutoring French to teenagers, students, and adults. My students describe me as patient, caring, methodical and adaptable: “You explain so well and clearly". My goal is to have my student say: "Ah! Now I really get it!" With a smile! There is something magical and joyful in this moment for both the student and the teacher.

Having lived in the States for many years, I have developed an acute sense of the nuances between French and American English. For example, I love to highlight the "faux–amis" (false friends) to both French and Americans.

In my engineering and business career, I have dealt with American and French professionals, translated numerous texts (both ways), and acted as a "Cultural Bridge" between American and French colleagues. And of course, I regularly speak French with family and friends and travel to France.

These accomplishments qualify me not only to teach the French language but also to help bridge cultural differences in social as well as business settings.'
