I offer tutoring for college and advanced high school mathematics subjects. I hold a BA in mathematics from Amherst College and an MA in pure mathematics from York University. As a math graduate student at UMass Amherst, I've taught students in college calculus courses for several years, including one-on-one tutoring, classroom teaching, and grading.
My focus in tutoring has always been on helping students who are struggling with new material to gain familiarity through careful practice. I emphasize problem-solving and mastery of techniques in my tutoring, and I proceed with patience and understanding of students' questions and concerns. For me, the best part of tutoring is when a student, who initially felt confused and frustrated by course material, leaves the tutoring session confident in their ability to solve the problems that were giving them trouble.
I am available to tutor college math subjects including calculus, linear algebra, and more advanced topics (for example, real analysis). I have also tutored college students one-on-one in logic, a favorite subject of mine. I can tutor high school students in more advanced math classes like trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus; I can also tutor standardized tests like the SAT Math and GRE.
