I am proficient with both political theory and international relations. While obtaining my degrees I did a significant amount of writing. That allows me to not only assist in explaining the course material to students but also to assist them in writing papers. Much of my tutoring consists of verbal explanations but also drawing diagrams. Furthermore, I will use a lot of examples to help the students better understand the material. I may show students a paper I wrote as an example of what is in a good political science paper.
Additionally, I taught English as a Second Language in Japan and then here in the United States recently. I have taught students at the absolute beginning level all the way through to the highly advanced. In my lessons I use simple language, examples and drawings to help students better understand English. While I talk a great deal in my lessons to improve student listening skills, I also try to have students talk as much as possible to enhance their speaking abilities. I use written examples as well to help students better understand grammar.
