About Me
Hello! My name is Lan Z., and I am currently a surgical dermatology fellow at a Mohs surgery practice in Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated Cum Laude from Pomona College in 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology, a 4.0 STEM GPA, and membership in Sigma Xi.
For over two years, I have mentored undergraduate students in Organic Chemistry I and II through Pomona College’s Organic Chemistry Learning Communities program. I have worked with both individuals and small groups, helping students strengthen their understanding of reaction mechanisms, synthesis, spectroscopy, and problem-solving while preparing for exams and coursework.
My teaching emphasizes understanding concepts rather than memorization, allowing students to confidently approach unfamiliar problems.
Outside of mentoring, I have conducted research at Pomona College, The Scripps Research Institute, and Harvey Mudd College, resulting in publications in Organic Letters and the Journal of Chemical Education. My research experience allows me to connect classroom concepts with modern organic chemistry while adapting each session to a student’s individual learning style.
