Katie is a french horn player and teacher in the Boston metro area. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Katie received her Undergraduate in French Horn Performance at the University of South Florida studying with Andrew Karr. She began her teaching career working with private students, band programs and teaching K-5 Music around the Tampa area.

Originally from Tampa, Florida, Katie received her Undergraduate in French Horn Performance at the University of South Florida studying with Andrew Karr. She began her teaching career working with private students, band programs and teaching K-5 Music around the Tampa area.
As an advocate for music education, Katie has worked with the El-Sistema program of Boston and with band and music programs throughout the Boston and Tampa areas. Katie attended the Longy School of Music of Bard College where she pursued studies in french horn performance under Hazel Dean Davis. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Education at Boston University while teaching K-8 Music in Cambridge, MA.
Katie has made appearances with the Bach Society Orchestra at Harvard and Rocky Ridge Music Festival in Estes Park, CO. She has worked with Musicians from Marlboro, The Florida Orchestra and Boston Pops in masterclass settings.
I love helping students succeed within their passion of music. The academic side of music (music theory, music history, ear training) can often cause students to loose interest in music because of its difficulty. I love giving music a relatable twist by teaching about it using analogies that students can understand and relate to. I help students prepare for AP music theory and music history exams, college entrance exams and students wanting to understand music on a deeper level.
I am also a french horn teacher where I love to teach students the art of french horn playing.
