Hi, I'm David!
I'm a high school English teacher in the Boston area. I love what I do--writing and literature are my passions, and helping students understand our texts' core ideas and express them in writing is endlessly rewarding. I also love working one-on-one with students, both as a teacher and a tutor. When working with you, I'll start with what I think is the most helpful strategy: to talk about writing on a personal level. What are you trying to express? What do you think is currently going well, and what do you think could use more work? Using these conversations as a basis for developing and mastering writing skills has proved successful in my classroom and in private tutoring environments.
I have a Bachelor's degree from Bates College and a Master of Arts in teaching (MAT) from Simmons University. I've been an English teacher for nine years, and I've tutored in different environments for the last four years.
If you're looking for help on essays (including the college admissions essay), understanding difficult texts, or mastering tricky grammar rules, I'm your tutor. I have lots of flexibility (especially over the summer!), and I am easy to reach. I am dependable, passionate, and experienced.
If you have any questions for me, please feel free to reach out.
