I hold a B.A. in History from Southern Arkansas University, and since 2021 I have served as a teacher and headmaster at Geneva Academy in West Monroe, where I have taught middle and high school students in writing, literature, history, grammar, and philosophy. My teaching is writing-intensive, so a large part of my work involves helping students read carefully, form clear arguments, organize their thoughts, revise drafts, and express themselves with precision. In addition to classroom teaching, I have designed literature and history curricula, provided detailed written and oral feedback on student work, and guided students through the full writing process from understanding a text to producing a polished essay. I also have over a decade of experience teaching courses and lectures through local religious institutions, which gave me experience presenting material to older students and adults in a discussion-driven setting.

My approach to tutoring is patient, structured, and practical. I aim to meet students where they are, identify the specific skill that needs attention, and then help them grow in both confidence and competence. In writing and English, I focus on thesis formation, organization, grammar, clarity, and revision. In literature and history, I help students with close reading, comprehension, interpretation, discussion, and analytical writing. Because my background is interdisciplinary, I am especially comfortable helping students connect reading, thinking, and writing rather than treating each assignment as an isolated task. I have worked most extensively with middle school and high school students, but I am also comfortable helping older students who need thoughtful feedback on essays, papers, and humanities coursework.

Approved Subjects

Guitar

Guitar

I have played guitar for 23 years and am proficient on both acoustic and electric guitar. My experience includes live performance, light touring, and studio recording, and one of my songs received radio airplay for several months. I can help students build solid technique, rhythm, chord fluency, and musical confidence while tailoring lessons to their current skill level and goals. My aim is to provide practical, encouraging instruction grounded in real playing experience.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have twelve years of public speaking experience through regular preaching and formal training in homiletics. In addition to my own speaking experience, I have spent the past five years coaching middle and high school students in public speaking at my school, helping them grow in clarity, confidence, delivery, and structure. My background has given me experience both in preparing speeches and in presenting them effectively before an audience. As a tutor, I can help students strengthen organization, projection, pacing, confidence, and overall effectiveness in public speaking.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I have several years of experience teaching writing-intensive courses in history and literature, where I regularly help middle and high school students develop clear thesis statements and support them with organized arguments and evidence. Since 2021, as a teacher and headmaster at Geneva Academy, I have guided students through the full writing process, from narrowing a topic and forming a defensible claim to outlining, drafting, revising, and polishing analytical essays. My B.A. in History has also strengthened my own training in research, argumentation, and academic writing. In tutoring thesis writing, I focus on helping students produce precise claims and build papers whose structure, evidence, and style consistently serve that central argument.
United States History
