I hold a B.A. in History from Southern Arkansas University, and since 2021 I have served as a teacher and headmaster at Geneva Academy in West Monroe, where I have taught middle and high school students in writing, literature, history, grammar, and philosophy. My teaching is writing-intensive, so a large part of my work involves helping students read carefully, form clear arguments, organize their thoughts, revise drafts, and express themselves with precision. In addition to classroom teaching, I have designed literature and history curricula, provided detailed written and oral feedback on student work, and guided students through the full writing process from understanding a text to producing a polished essay. I also have over a decade of experience teaching courses and lectures through local religious institutions, which gave me experience presenting material to older students and adults in a discussion-driven setting.
My approach to tutoring is patient, structured, and practical. I aim to meet students where they are, identify the specific skill that needs attention, and then help them grow in both confidence and competence. In writing and English, I focus on thesis formation, organization, grammar, clarity, and revision. In literature and history, I help students with close reading, comprehension, interpretation, discussion, and analytical writing. Because my background is interdisciplinary, I am especially comfortable helping students connect reading, thinking, and writing rather than treating each assignment as an isolated task. I have worked most extensively with middle school and high school students, but I am also comfortable helping older students who need thoughtful feedback on essays, papers, and humanities coursework.
