ADHD

When a child is diagnosed with ADD/ADHD often times parents are not sure of what services are available to them; my experience includes years of assisting parents in finding Resources to help their child. My experience in working with students that have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD includes: Family Support, Academic Instruction, and Resource Management. My experience includes family support to assist the family with techniques to help in the challenges that they may face. In addition, my experience includes working alongside with youth-serving organizations that provide services for children with special needs. My Academic Tutoring & Teaching experience includes more than 17 years experience working with students with special needs. My Extensive Training includes staying abreast of State Common Core Standards and updated information regarding new developments in research of ADD/ADHD.

Anatomy

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Science as well as additional coursework from Nursing School. I have extensive experience in tutoring students in Anatomy. As a result, many of my students have successfully passed the MCAT and/ or other Professional Entrance Exams.

Biochemistry

My experience as an Academic Tutor includes tutoring students in Biochemistry. As a "Science Major" myself, I know the importance of receiving tutoring at the beginning of the course. In order to ensure success in Biochemistry, a student must learn the fundamentals of the course. Students that I have tutored have successfully passed Biochemistry.

Biology

My experience includes tutoring students in AP Biology. Sudents often have difficulty with this subject as a result of the complexity of AP Biology. Students that I have tutored successfully completed the course.

Chemistry

My experience as a Science Tutor includes tutoring students in Chemistry/ AP Chemistry. Chemistry can be a very difficult course. Selecting the "Right Tutor" is very important. My sessions include step-by-step explanation(s) to solve problems. Students that I have tutored have successfully passed Chemistry.

Earth Science

During the pursuit of my Pre-Medicine Degree one of the course requirements was Earth Science. I became very interested in the course and selected to take it as a part of my Nursing School Curriculum. Each class I successfully passed with an "A". During my Professional Career, I assisted many students with Academic Tutoring in Earth Science. All the students that were tutored in this subject did very well. In addition, as a Professional Academic Tutor, I assisted students with Science Fair Projects. Some students decided to enter the Science Fair focusing on Earth Science. Several of those students who entered the Science Fair received "Recognition Ranking in the "Top 3 "of Science Fair Winners".

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience with teaching grades k-12 for over 6 years. My experience includes Teaching ESL Instruction as well as General Subject Areas. I am comfortable with teaching all of these grade levels. My teaching style is unique in that I assess the students weakness/ strengths and then determine the best way to approach a learning style that fits the student.

ESL/ESOL

I am currently a Teacher and Academic Tutor. I have over 8 years of experience working with students in ESL.I am comfortable working with students who speak various languages. In addition to teaching ESL,I have also volunteered my services to parents as well as children from other countries, who were having difficulty with learning various components of the English Language.

Genetics

My major in College was Pre-Medicine, during which Genetics was a part of the graduation curriculum. My grade upon the completion of the Genetics course was a "B". After College, I took Genetics in Continuous Education Courses. During my profession as a tutor included tutoring 10 College student in Genetics. All of my students successfully passed the course with a " B" or higher

Grammar

In my many years of teaching, grammar is an important part of instruction. My experience includes assisting students who have other primary languages learn english as a secondary language. Grammar plays an important role in a student learning to read fluently. My teaching experience has allowed for me to find ways to help students with grammar and reading simulatenously.

Physics

My experience includes tutoring students in AP Physics. Students often do'nt know how to study for Physics. An component of my tutoring sessions includes ways to prepare for exams. Students that I have tutored successfully passed AP Physics.

Special Needs

My Professional Career includes 15+ years of experience working with students with special needs. My Professional Expertise includes: Teaching in the Traditional / Non-Traditional Classroom Settings as well as providing Academic Tutoring. Often times students with special needs require Academic Assessments to determine his/her strengths and weaknesses. My experience includes knowledge of Academic Assessments, Common Core Standards, and Academic Accommodation Plans.

Study Skills

I have extensive experience in assisting students with Time Management and Study Skills. My teaching strategy involves assisting students learn ways to prepare for exams in a timely manner. My teaching strategy enables students to be prepared "Ahead of Time" for a test. These study skills help students to only have to review materials the night before an exam.
