Hello! I am a recent graduate of the Master's degree program in Mathematics at Louisiana Tech University.

Hello! I am a recent graduate of the Master's degree program in Mathematics at Louisiana Tech University.

I have tutored and taught mathematics and statistics in variety of settings for over 11 years. I have taught and tutored college students at Louisiana Tech University in mathematics ranging from algebra to trigonometry, calculus, and differential equations. I also have experience working for Learning Tech Quest School, a school which focuses on teaching and supporting elementary to middle school children with learning disabilities. In addition, I have spent two years working as an online algebra I and II tutor.

I have a holistic approach to tutoring. That means I don't only go over the material, I work with you to discover strengths and address weaknesses in your approach to learning and doing math. This includes working through math or test anxiety, developing problem solving strategies and techniques, and improving study habits and skills. I will help you learn how to learn.

I took the Praxis 0061 test (high school math content exam) in June of 2011. I scored a 173, which is within the top 15% of test takers, earning an award of excellence from ETS. I am comfortable helping others prepare for this test.

I graduated from the honors program at Louisiana Tech University with a B.Sc. in mathematics. Over my years in school I have learned to develop the study skills I needed to succeed. I also have over 5 years of experience in tutoring, mostly in the area of mathematics. I have noticed how important study skills are to the success of students in mathematics. That is why I always address study habits and skills during my tutoring sessions. I help each of my students to develop a study system that works for them. I also keep up-to-date with the latest research into study methods so that my students can benefit from this knowledge.

Amazing Cal 2 tutor

Hollin V. was an amazing Calculus 2 tutor and I would definitely give her a 5 star rating! She made the subject matter so much easier to understand. She always made a point to optimize the time she had to help me. Hollin was very kind and I always felt comfortable asking her questions. She was very knowledgeable of the subject matter and was able to answer my questions without hesitation. My final grade in Calculus 2 was a "B" which I'm very thankful for. I would highly recommend Hollin V if you need help in any mathematics course.

Fantastic GRE prep

Hollin is great! She helped prepare my daughter for the GRE and raise her score by 6 points. She is an excellent math tutor and also helped raise her verbal reasoning score. Couldn't be happier with Hollin!

Explains math in understandable way!

Hollin tutored our son in Trig. She did a fantastic job. She explained it so that he understood it, and went through problems with him step-by-step. He doesn't feel comfortable asking questions in class, but did much better in a one-on-one basis. He had already had to drop Trig twice, but with Hollin's tutoring, finally passed it this Quarter. Hollin was quick to respond to any communications, and was able to accommodate him when he needed an extra session. We would highly recommend her, and plan to see if she can help him in upcoming math classes.
