I am an experienced educator with 33 years of experience both in the classroom and in one-on-one settings. In 2002, after completing graduate school, I decided to start my own business, Specialized Support Services. Since then, I have been providing individualized instructional therapy for struggling students.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and taught several years in the classroom as a Kindergarten teacher then a Hearing-Impaired Preschool Teacher. Early in my career, I was chosen by my principal to participate in an Exxon Grant for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. For five years I trained as Math Specialist and Master Teacher.
After many years, I decided to go back to school and further my education. I received a master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Deaf Education and Early Intervention. I went on to receive an Educational Specialist Degree in Reading Diagnostic and Assessment.
I have received specialized training for a variety of teaching methodologies. Some of these include a yearlong practicum for differentiated learning through the All Kinds of Minds Institute (North Carolina), Singapore Math and a variety of multi-sensory reading techniques.
I have served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction in local schools training teachers, developing curriculum, and writing grants. In 2018 and 2019, I attended the Future of Technology and Education (F.E.T.C.) national conference in Orlando, Florida where I was selected to serve on the F.E.T.C. committee for program selection. I have implemented technology training and trained teachers in distance learning.
