I’m Raj! I graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2014. I have been through ups and downs in life since then which has shaped who I am and how I relate to other people. These experiences have helped me as a tutor. I am very patient with my kiddos as I know learning and mastering something new takes time. I have also learned habits take time. I work with the parents to form a game plan for creating new habits; rewards for focus have worked great. I make things easy to remember for the kids by creating tricks and rhymes for times tables. We will also break addition/subtraction problems down to help them understand instead of just doing a formula without knowing what’s truly going on there. The goal is real learning and not just getting by.
I teach using the curriculum from Khan Academy which has worked wonderfully. I have been tutoring 2 students with it over the last year, and they have made big strides and advanced in Math even during this crazy school year due to Covid. I am also happy to work off of any homework or curriculum my students already have.
Math has always come naturally for me, and I love helping my students realize it isn’t as bad as they think. I have over one full year of experience tutoring Math. I have worked with students in 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade. I have also excelled in Math throughout my schooling so I have a good understanding of the subject.
