I am an experienced English educator, published writer, and college instructor with a strong background in helping students become confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. I hold an MFA in Fiction from Louisiana State University and a B.A. in Writing with minors in English and Journalism from Spring Hill College. I currently teach at University of New Orleans, where I have taught English Composition I and II, African American Literature, Creative Writing, Reading Fiction, American Film as Literary Art, and Advanced Fiction Writing. I have also taught at Louisiana State University, where I instructed first-year composition and creative writing courses.
My tutoring style is supportive, personalized, and focused on long-term growth. I work with high school, college, and adult learners, and I tailor each session to the student’s goals and learning style. Whether a student needs help with grammar, essay organization, thesis development, reading comprehension, literary analysis, research writing, or college-level composition, I break concepts into clear and manageable steps. I also help students build confidence, improve study habits, and develop skills they can use independently in future classes.
In addition to teaching, I am a published writer with essays, reviews, and fiction appearing in multiple literary and public-facing publications. My experience as both an educator and working writer allows me to guide students not only in academic writing, but also in voice, creativity, clarity, and effective communication. I am passionate about creating a welcoming learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and making measurable progress. My goal is to help every student strengthen their skills and achieve success at their own pace.
