Experience in a tutor is very important. I have 24 years of teaching in a variety of different types of schools: public, private, charter, and French immersion. This has given me a lot of tools to work with any student. I am currently tutoring local students weekly in the following subjects: K/1 reading and writing; 6th grade spelling, reading, writing, and math; 7th grade high school test prep; 8th grade high school test prep including math, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and reading; high...

Experience in a tutor is very important. I have 24 years of teaching in a variety of different types of schools: public, private, charter, and French immersion. This has given me a lot of tools to work with any student. I am currently tutoring local students weekly in the following subjects: K/1 reading and writing; 6th grade spelling, reading, writing, and math; 7th grade high school test prep; 8th grade high school test prep including math, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and reading; high school/college application essay editing.

I have lengthy experience teaching lower elementary grades in all subjects from preK through 8th grade. Most of my teaching years were in K-2, but secretly, those 5th graders are my favorites. I have a Master's degree in early childhood development, having had graduate level classes in topics such as IQ testing and Reggio Emilia.

As my oldest child recently went through the college application process, I realized that I love reading and editing essays. I truly enjoyed assisting her with brainstorming topics and talking through the best options for her applications. It may not be my college major, but I taught English at a French immersion school for ten years.

My younger child landed in the 99th percentile of her high school entrance exam. I feel that is partially due to my tutoring her before the test. I have experience with the HSTP and the IOWA.

I am comfortable tutoring in all subjects (reading, writing, language, English, spelling, science, social studies, and math) for grades pre-K through 8th grade. I will not tutor you in upper level math. While I made an A in college calculus, it's just been too long. I have forgotten some of the content. Pre-Algebra though? No problem.

I will also tutor high school and college English, especially essay development, editing, brainstorming.
