Hello! My name is Shea and I am a natural, professional teacher and caregiver. I double majored in Secondary English Education and Literature. I hold a Level 2 Teaching Certification and I have seven (7) years of experience teaching at the high school level. My student teaching experiences were in middle school classrooms, my professional classroom for seven years was in high school classrooms, and now I am uncovering my love and skill for elementary and early childhood education and considering getting an add-on certification for that area.
I have integrated other credits such as art, civics, geography, and music into the English classroom in addition to teaching isolated music elective classes meant for everyone. Most recently, I integrated Capstone into my English IV course. I specialize in not only things like Project Based Learning, real world relevant learning, research, grammar, and essays as I am experienced and knowledgeable in a wide range of interventions and care to accommodate and modify for young learners with disabilities/exceptionalities; case management and IEP writing are parts of my background. I act with trauma-informed, restorative, and social emotional practices as I teach/intervene/tutor. I integrate mindfulness practices as much as the family/school allows: these learners are in a stress-ridden world and focusing is a habit of mind.
Currently, I am simultaneously getting experience with elementary and early childhood education through substitute teaching ranging from co-teaching in a special education pre-k class and every grade beyond at the elementary level while working with children and families in their homes, specifically with ADHD and Autism and especially when they exist at once which I recognize as its own experience referred to informally as AuDHD.
I center expressive pedagogy and the whole child as much as I can to scaffold young learners into building skills. Your child's education and growth takes a village, and I'd love to be part of it.
