Hey there! My name is Bennett. I'm a tutor specializing in history, languages, and essays, including scholarship applications and admissions statements.

A bit about me: I possess an MSt from the University of Oxford and a BSM from Tulane University, which I attended with a full-tuition merit scholarship. I also spent a semester studying global branding at the WU Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business). My ACT score was a 34, with perfect scores in English and Reading.

For several years I've worked to critique and strengthen essays, assisting friends and clients in applying for competitive universities (e.g. Rice, Wake Forest, Edinburgh, Tulane, etc.) and scholarships (e.g. the Stamps scholarship). I’ve also spent extensive time as an English tutor for international students and businesspeople via Ringle, where I maintain high ratings.

For history and languages, I firmly believe learning should be fun, and I'll do my best to relate important concepts to your own interests. I try to link abstract ideas with concrete examples, providing a thorough but understandable overview. I'm big on asking questions and try my best to be encouraging—there really are no stupid questions!

When critiquing essays, I'll encourage you to consider your own beliefs to improve your understanding of the topic from all angles. I believe positive reinforcement is a powerful tool, and in my critiques I aim to highlight what *does* work just as much as what *doesn’t*.

I'll also prompt you to analyze your own arguments from a classic rhetorical stance, asking: Which points are based on logic? On emotion? On credibility? When you can dissect your argument in this way, you'll find your essay much improved!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to chat.
