I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science from Louisiana State University. After earning my degree, I worked for eight years as a Business Analyst before returning to school when my son was one year old. Following my graduate studies, I joined a large corporate health insurance company, where I held several roles including Data Analyst and later Data Scientist. While all of that was exciting, I've temporarily retired as my 2 neurodivergent kiddos require a lot of attention and energy after school.
My tutoring experience began during my undergraduate years, when I tutored high school students in mathematics. While in graduate school, I tutored middle school students in all subjects. All of my tutoring has been conducted one-on-one, either in students’ homes or local libraries.
In addition to my academic and professional background, I bring a deep understanding of neurodiverse learners, particularly students with ADHD. I have tutored several children with ADHD and understand how their attention spans and learning needs can vary drastically. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I’ve developed effective coping strategies and insight into how ADHD can present differently. I am also the parent of two children with ADHD—one in middle school and one in first grade—who have very different learning profiles. These experiences have strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
My approach to tutoring is centered on engagement through connection. I strive to understand what each student is passionate about and relate the material to their interests whenever possible. If a student mentions something I’m unfamiliar with, I make it a point to learn about it so I can connect with them at their level. This approach has consistently helped me foster focus, confidence, and curiosity in my students.
