Hi All! My name is Jonathan F., though most people know me as Mr. F. I have been teaching math for 26 years, holding a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education and a Masters in Mathematics. I love teaching and tutoring for many reasons, including listening to the student to understand his or her perspective, adjusting my teaching to meet the student's needs, and showing encouragement, compassion, care, support, patience, and kindness. After all, love is the greatest gift of all, and I believe the ultimate purpose of math is to help students become better thinkers by exercising logical reasoning.
My experience spans a wide variety of settings and age groups, ranging from elementary and middle school students to high schoolers and adults (ages 8 to 22+). My first three years of teaching were at the high school level, which included extensive one-on-one tutoring after school. The last 23 years have been spent in college-level classroom instruction, which has also included hundreds of hours of dedicated one-on-one and small-group tutoring.
My absolute strengths lie in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and ACT prep, although I also have extensive tutoring experience in Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry. By the grace of God, I hope to continue helping students build strong foundational math skills and confidence, whether they are preparing for high school exams, college courses, or standardized tests.
