I believe that all learners have the right to knowledge, and take great joy in supporting students of all ages and backgrounds in their goals. I'm a Master's student of Anthropology with a Bachelor's degree in English Studies, and I've been tutoring professionally for 7 years. I have had the pleasure of working with elementary-aged, middle school, high school, and college students, including adult and nontraditional learners (more about that below).
During undergrad, I worked at my local community college, where I provided one-on-one and small-group tutoring in a wide range of subjects both in person and online. During that time I worked with Deaf, ESL, ADHD, Autistic, and differently abled learners, which has strengthened my understanding of learning and teaching in irreplaceable ways.
I understand that mental blocks are just as harmful to learning as information gaps, so I always focus on building confidence safely alongside content mastery. I have worked as an independent tutor since 2019, supporting students in math, English grammar, writing, literature, science, and history. I specialize in ACT and SAT prep, offering targeted instruction across all sections. My ACT students achieve an average composite increase of 6 points from their first to last test.
My teaching style is patient, empathetic, and student-centered. I take time to understand how every learner thinks, what feels confusing, and what may be affecting their confidence. I encourage curiosity, questions, and learning through clear explanations and supportive feedback, creating an environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing from them, and hopefully we can all learn to laugh at ourselves. I try to lead by example and I always hope my students will inherit the pride I feel for them!
