I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English (Linguistics), Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My academic background supports my work tutoring English grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, test preparation, and college readiness.
I have over six years of tutoring experience working with middle school, high school, and college students, including adult and nontraditional learners. From 2023 to 2024, I worked as a tutor at South Louisiana Community College, where I provided one-on-one and small-group tutoring, both in person and online.
While working as a research assistant in Ecuador, I also taught English to Indigenous K–12 students and mentored high school students on capstone projects. This combined with my experience supporting Deaf, ESL, Autistic, and differently abled learners has strengthened my understanding of learning and teaching in irreplaceable ways.
I understand that mental blocks are just as harmful to learning as information gaps, so I always focus on building confidence safely alongside content mastery. Across multiple semesters, students showed an average improvement of 1.7 letter grades, from fail to pass.
In addition, I have worked as an independent tutor since 2019, supporting students in math, English grammar, writing, literature, science, and history. I specialize in ACT prep, offering targeted instruction across all four sections. My students acheive an average composite increase of 6 points from their first to last test.
My teaching style is patient, empathetic, and student-centered. I take time to understand how every learner thinks, what feels confusing, and what may be affecting their confidence. I encourage curiosity, questions, and learning through clear explanations and supportive feedback, creating an environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing from them. I try to lead by example and I always hope my students will inherit the pride I feel for them!

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

I have been tutoring the ACT English section for 6 years. It's my belief that most learners can earn at least a 28 on the English section with sufficient practice. Whether starting from 17 or 27, my students have always been able to push themselves higher with a combination of drills, independent work, reading and working together aloud, and targeted instruction. I break down common and uncommon patterns found on the ACT and bring my unique enthusiasm for problem-solving and grammar to all sessions.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I've been peer-reviewing, copy-editing, line-editing, and coaching essay writing for four years. I majored in English in university and have always taken joy in helping students access research, gain citation fluency, boost stylistic confidence, and develop their writing voice at all levels. I tutored at a community college for a year and a half and understand the barriers to writing and how to surmount them with enthusiasm.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

I have been writing creative fiction, both prose and poetry, for about ten years. I have also been line and copy editing short stories and long-form fiction for four years. I majored in English and focused heavily on contemporary literature and film; also, I just love to read. My approach emphasizes preserving and developing voice while pushing style and themes in addition to adhering to structural conventions.
Linguistics

Linguistics

I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Studies with a concentration in Linguistics. Through two positions as a Research Assistant -- one in a research lab as an undergraduate, one a 6-month field position in Ecuador post-graduate) I have developed a robust professional understanding of the world of linguistics suitable for tutoring up to the undergraduate level. My formal education has been complemented by real-world study and new linguistic anthropological research.
Sociology

Sociology

I hold a bachelor's degree in English linguistics. I spent my time in undergrad focusing on the intersection of anthropology, sociology, and linguistics. After graduating I lived in Ecuador for 5 months as a research assistant documenting an endangered Indigenous language and working under Standford alum and doctor of anthropology Ciara Wirth while building an independent research relationship with the Waorani community.
