I am an experienced and well seasoned para educator with 12+ years in inner city schools. I also specialized in self-contained special needs environments in Central and Southeast Louisiana. With my years of diverse experiences, I have taught all grades from K-12. However, I have a preference for middle school students. I am able to teach all subjects. I have extensive qualifications and knowledge of closed classroom environments.
This includes 2 years of experience, working directly with an outstanding Principal for a special needs boy, who was socially promoted for years up to grade 5. However, the student began with me on a very low Pre-K level. My incredible teaching experience with this student included; one on one math skills, reading comprehension, sight words, Phonics, ELA, Science, Geometry, Social Studies, and Spelling.
I was responsible to keep up all weekly lesson plans, grading goals ( both short and long term) test taking skills, which included both in house and state testing. I have successfully worked one on one and also helped students to intermingle in a classroom with other children in a general environment of 20 -30 students. This was crucial to implement and teach much needed social skills , creativity and confidence while learning.
I am a qualified one on one teacher, who loves to give all my students all the same opportunities across the board, regardless of limitations.
( No Child Left Behind Act of 2002) A huge goal was to excite, plan, and implement separate special “tailored educational strategies” for students learning at a different pace. This premise was implemented in state test taking, as well as classroom which made all achieved goals reached.
