With a master’s degree and advanced training in guidance, special education, and educational administration, I bring more than twenty-five years of experience supporting students across diverse academic settings.

My approach extends beyond completing assignments or improving isolated skills. I seek to understand how each student learns, where progress becomes difficult, and what individualized support may build confidence, independence, and academic success. I believe meaningful progress begins with trust, open communication, and understanding the student as both a learner and a person.

My professional experience includes general and special education, educational assessment, pupil appraisal, school counseling, academic intervention, educational consulting, and student advocacy. This background helps me recognize that academic difficulties may involve organization, task initiation, attention, confidence, communication, executive functioning, learning differences, academic gaps, or uncertainty about how to begin.

Depending on individual needs, our work may include reading comprehension, writing, study skills, organization, planning, assignment management, time management, self-advocacy, academic confidence, and executive-functioning support. Rather than simply providing answers, I help students develop strategies for approaching difficult work, understanding expectations, seeking assistance, and becoming more independent learners.

I adapt instruction to each student’s strengths, needs, pace, interests, and learning style. I also value communication with parents and caregivers regarding progress, emerging strengths, continuing challenges, and strategies for continued growth.

My goal is to create an environment in which challenges are understood, strengths are recognized, and meaningful progress can develop.

Every student deserves to be known by more than the reason they were referred.

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students strengthen grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, organization, rhetorical effectiveness, and reading-based language skills. I teach students to recognize not only which answer is correct, but why it is correct, so they can apply the same reasoning to unfamiliar ACT English questions. My approach also emphasizes clarity, authentic expression, and the relationship between strong thinking and strong writing. I help students develop practical test-taking strategies while identifying the specific language patterns and skill gaps that are limiting their performance.
ADHD

ADHD

As an Academic Coach with advanced training in guidance, special education, and educational administration, I have supported students with ADHD while helping them strengthen executive function skills through general and special education, educational assessment, school counseling, and individualized academic coaching. My work focuses on helping students develop organization, planning, task initiation, time management, study strategies, self-advocacy, and academic confidence while building the skills needed for greater independence. I recognize that ADHD affects every learner differently, so I tailor instruction to each student's strengths, needs, and goals rather than relying on a single approach. My objective is not simply to complete assignments, but to help students develop lasting strategies that promote success in school and beyond.
American History

American History

I have extensive experience teaching and supporting students in American history, social studies, reading, writing, and analytical thinking across middle- and high-school levels. I help students move beyond memorizing dates and isolated facts by examining cause and effect, historical context, competing perspectives, and the ways major events and ideas connect across time. My work also includes helping students strengthen source analysis, written responses, essay development, and the organization required for content-heavy history courses. I aim to make American history understandable as a connected human story while also helping students meet the academic demands of their courses.
Career Development

Career Development

I have extensive experience helping adolescents and young adults explore career direction across a wide range of cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and motivational profiles. My work has included individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral challenges, executive-functioning difficulties, average academic profiles, and high-achieving students who still need help translating ability into realistic long-term direction. I approach career development by examining more than interests alone. I help students consider the relationship among aptitude, interests, motivation, work habits, educational demands, and their demonstrated ability to sustain effort over time, because a career choice must be realistic not only in what someone wants to do, but in what that path will consistently require of them. My coaching has included career exploration, educational planning, goal setting, decision-making, interview preparation, professional communication, and helping students connect present academic choices with future career expectations. I also help students examine how changing technology, including artificial intelligence and automation, may affect particular career paths and what skills may remain valuable as those fields evolve. My goal is to help students move beyond simply naming an appealing occupation and toward understanding the demands of the work, the preparation required, and whether their strengths, motivation, and long-term patterns support that direction.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I work extensively with high school students as an academic coach, helping them move through college planning, school selection, application preparation, personal statements, essays, and the organization required to complete the admissions process successfully. My work includes helping students identify colleges that fit not only their interests and academic profile, but also their long-term goals, financial circumstances, likely career outcomes, and readiness for the demands of a particular institution. I help students look beyond the prestige or familiarity of a college name and consider questions of fit, tuition, financial investment, out-of-state costs, potential debt, expected career pathways, and the long-term value of the educational choice. These discussions are always handled carefully and collaboratively, with respect for family priorities and resources, while helping the student understand the practical implications of the decision. I also support students with ADHD, executive-functioning difficulties, motivation concerns, or overwhelm, all of which can complicate college planning and application completion. My work includes developing authentic essay ideas, organizing application timelines and requirements, strengthening written communication, and helping students present their experiences and strengths in a way that remains genuinely their own. My goal is not simply to help a student gain admission somewhere, but to help them make a thoughtful decision about where they are going, why they are going there, what the experience will require of them, and how that decision connects to the life and career they hope to build.
Common Core

Common Core

As an Academic Coach with advanced training in guidance, special education, and educational administration, I have helped students build the academic skills needed to succeed with Common Core standards across reading, writing, mathematics, and executive functioning. My instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem solving, and the application of knowledge rather than memorization alone. I individualize lessons to each student's strengths, learning style, and pace while helping them develop organization, study strategies, and academic confidence. My goal is not simply to improve classroom performance, but to help students become more capable, independent learners.
COOP/HSPT

COOP/HSPT

I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students strengthen the reading, language, mathematics, reasoning, and test-taking skills required for high school entrance examinations. I work with students to identify specific areas of difficulty, organize unfamiliar material, improve pacing, and develop practical strategies for approaching multiple-choice questions efficiently. My background in executive functioning and individualized instruction is especially helpful for students whose performance may be affected by attention, anxiety, processing speed, or difficulty organizing their thinking under timed conditions. Preparation is tailored to the student’s actual strengths and weaknesses rather than relying on repetitive drill alone.
Creative Writing

Creative Writing

Every student has a voice worth hearing. My role is to help them discover it, strengthen it, and express it with confidence through stories, poetry, personal narratives, and creative projects. Rather than beginning with rules and formulas, we begin with curiosity, imagination, and meaningful ideas before shaping them into engaging, well-crafted writing. Students leave with stronger writing skills, greater confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the creative process.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary school lays the foundation for a student's confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning habits. I provide individualized support in reading, writing, math, study skills, and executive functioning while helping students develop organization, perseverance, and independent problem-solving skills. My sessions combine engaging instruction with patience, encouragement, and practical strategies that help children understand not only what they are learning, but how they learn best. I work closely with families to celebrate growth, strengthen confidence, and help every student build a strong foundation for future success.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I support elementary students in developing strong foundational math skills while helping them understand the reasoning behind the procedures they use. My tutoring includes arithmetic, fractions, decimals, problem solving, and other grade-level concepts, with instruction adjusted to the student's individual starting point and learning needs. As an academic coach, I also help students develop attention, organization, persistence, and effective problem-solving habits that support success in mathematics. I have particular experience working with students who need additional structure, repetition, or encouragement to become more confident and independent learners.
English

English

English is far more than grammar and essays. It is the ability to think clearly, organize ideas, and communicate with confidence. I work with students from middle school through college who need support with reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay development, grammar, revision, research papers, and academic writing. Whether a student is struggling to begin an assignment, organize their thoughts, or strengthen a final draft, I focus on building the underlying thinking skills that create stronger writers—not simply better papers. My coaching emphasizes critical reading, executive functioning, organization, planning, and confidence so students become increasingly independent in their writing. Together, we develop strategies that transfer beyond a single assignment and support long-term academic success.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have extensive experience supporting English-language learners across reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and conversational communication. My work includes helping students strengthen both academic English and practical language use while adapting instruction to differences in language background, confidence, processing, and learning needs. I also help students organize written responses, improve clarity and sentence structure, and develop greater independence in expressing ideas in English. My approach is patient, individualized, and focused on building both skill and confidence.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

Strong essays begin with clear thinking, not just strong grammar. I help students develop ideas, organize their thoughts, strengthen their writing, and communicate with confidence while preserving their authentic voice. Whether working on classroom assignments, literary analysis, scholarship essays, or college application essays, I guide students through each stage of the writing process—from brainstorming and outlining to revision and refinement. My goal is to help students become thoughtful, independent writers who understand both how to write and how to think through what they want to say.
European History

European History

I have extensive experience teaching and supporting students in European history, social studies, reading, writing, and historical analysis across middle- and high-school levels. I help students understand major political, economic, social, religious, and cultural developments by examining cause and effect, competing perspectives, and the connections among events rather than relying primarily on memorization. My work also includes helping students analyze primary and secondary sources, organize written responses and essays, and manage the substantial reading and content demands common in European history courses. I aim to help students see European history as an interconnected story of ideas, institutions, conflict, change, and human experience.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

Executive functioning influences how students organize, plan, initiate tasks, manage time, regulate attention, solve problems, and follow through on academic responsibilities. As an Academic Coach with advanced training in guidance and special education, I help students strengthen these skills through individualized instruction that recognizes each learner's unique strengths and challenges. Rather than relying on a single strategy, I work collaboratively with students to develop practical approaches that improve organization, self-management, confidence, and academic independence. My goal is to help students build executive function skills that support lasting success both in school and everyday life.
Geography

Geography

I have extensive experience teaching and supporting students in geography, social studies, history, and analytical thinking across middle- and high-school levels. I help students understand physical and human geography by connecting location, environment, culture, population, economics, migration, resources, and political boundaries rather than treating geography as simple map memorization. My work also includes helping students interpret maps, charts, demographic information, and regional patterns while strengthening reading, writing, and content organization. I emphasize the connections between geography and the historical, economic, cultural, and political forces that shape communities and nations.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I have extensive experience teaching and supporting students in government, civics, social studies, history, and analytical thinking across middle- and high-school levels. I help students understand how governmental institutions, constitutional principles, elections, public policy, political parties, interest groups, and civic participation interact rather than treating the subject as a collection of isolated terms. My work also includes helping students evaluate competing viewpoints, interpret political and historical sources, strengthen written arguments, and distinguish evidence from opinion. I emphasize thoughtful, balanced analysis so students can understand both how government is designed to function and how political decisions affect individuals, communities, and society.
Grammar

Grammar

I help students strengthen grammar through its practical application to clear, effective writing rather than treating grammar as an isolated set of rules. My work includes sentence structure, punctuation, usage, word choice, agreement, and revision, while helping students understand why a correction improves meaning and clarity. I regularly incorporate grammar instruction into essay writing, academic assignments, proofreading, and broader literacy development. My goal is for students to become increasingly able to recognize and correct problems independently rather than simply having their work corrected for them.
High School Placement Test

High School Placement Test

I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students prepare for high school placement and entrance examinations involving reading, language, mathematics, reasoning, and timed test performance. I help students identify specific skill gaps, strengthen comprehension, improve pacing, and develop practical strategies for approaching unfamiliar or difficult questions. My background in executive functioning and individualized instruction is especially useful for students whose test performance may be affected by attention, anxiety, processing speed, or difficulty organizing their thinking under pressure. Preparation is tailored to the individual student rather than relying on repetitive drill alone.
Homeschool

Homeschool

Every homeschool journey is as unique as the student behind it. I partner with families to provide individualized academic coaching that strengthens learning while developing confidence, organization, executive functioning, and independent study skills. Rather than focusing solely on completing lessons, I help students discover how they learn best while adapting instruction to their interests, strengths, and long-term goals. My goal is to support both students and families by creating meaningful learning experiences that foster curiosity, growth, and lifelong learning.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

The best interviews don't begin with perfect answers—they begin with genuine confidence. I help students and professionals prepare by organizing their thoughts, communicating clearly, and responding authentically rather than relying on memorized scripts. Together, we practice common interview questions, strengthen communication skills, and develop strategies for managing nervousness while presenting genuine strengths with confidence. My goal is to help every client walk into an interview prepared, self-assured, and ready to make a lasting impression.
Literature

Literature

I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students understand literature as more than plot, vocabulary, and literary devices. I encourage students to explore how writing reflects human hopes, fears, beliefs, relationships, imagination, culture, and the enduring questions people have asked across generations. From early storytelling and artistic expression to modern literature, I help students see how people use language to make sense of themselves, their societies, and what might still be possible. We then connect those larger ideas to close reading, interpretation, evidence-based discussion, analytical writing, and the academic skills required in the classroom.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I help students learn to proofread and revise their own writing with greater independence, focusing on clarity, organization, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and word choice. Rather than simply correcting errors for a student, I use the revision process to help students recognize patterns in their writing and understand why changes make their work stronger. My experience includes academic essays, personal statements, school assignments, and other student writing across grade levels. The goal is not merely a cleaner final paper, but a stronger and more confident writer who needs progressively less assistance.
Psychology

Psychology

I have decades of experience applying psychological principles in educational, mental health, correctional, and community-based settings. My work has included supporting adolescents and adults with attention, motivation, behavior, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and other factors that affect learning and development. I help students understand psychological concepts by connecting theory to realistic human behavior, relationships, education, and everyday decision-making. My teaching style emphasizes clear explanation, practical examples, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Public speaking begins long before a student stands in front of an audience. I help students organize their ideas, develop clear presentations, and communicate with confidence in classrooms, interviews, and academic settings. Together, we strengthen preparation, presentation structure, delivery, and authentic communication so students can express their thoughts with greater clarity and confidence. My focus is not on creating polished performers, but on helping students discover that their voice is worth hearing.
Reading

Reading

I work with elementary through high school students to strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and analytical thinking. My approach begins by identifying a student's current reading skills and the specific barriers affecting comprehension, then building strategies from that starting point. I regularly integrate reading instruction with writing, study skills, and executive functioning support so students learn not simply to complete an assignment, but to understand, analyze, and communicate what they have read. I have extensive experience supporting students with ADHD, learning differences, and other challenges that can affect reading stamina, attention, and academic confidence.
Social Studies

Social Studies

Experienced Social Studies Tutor Connecting History, Civics & Society I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students understand social studies through the connections among history, government, geography, economics, culture, and society. My professional background in education, public service, corrections, and community-based work allows me to bring real-world perspective to topics involving civic responsibility, institutions, social change, and public policy. I help students move beyond memorizing names and dates by identifying cause and effect, comparing perspectives, evaluating evidence, and understanding why historical and social developments matter. My approach is especially effective for students who need complex material organized into clear, understandable ideas.
Social Work

Social Work

Social work begins with understanding people, their strengths, the challenges they face, and the environments in which they live and learn. My work has focused on helping students and families navigate executive functioning, confidence, communication, self-advocacy, and developmental growth while strengthening the academic skills needed to succeed. Whether supporting social work coursework or helping families better understand the challenges affecting learning and behavior, I emphasize thoughtful problem solving, empathy, and practical strategies that translate into everyday life.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I specialize in helping students with ADHD, executive functioning challenges, learning differences, anxiety, autism, and other developmental needs become more confident and independent learners. Rather than focusing only on assignments or grades, I help students develop the planning, organization, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills that support lasting success. Every session is individualized to the student's strengths, challenges, and learning style while partnering closely with families to build strategies that extend beyond tutoring. My goal is for every student to be understood beyond the picture first painted and to develop the confidence and skills to succeed independently.
United States History

My approach is especially effective for students who need complex material organized into clear, understandable ideas.
World History

World History

I have extensive teaching and academic coaching experience helping students understand world history through the relationships among civilizations, governments, geography, culture, conflict, and social change. I emphasize cause and effect, historical patterns, competing perspectives, and the ways people have expressed their hopes, fears, beliefs, imagination, and aspirations across time. My goal is to help students see history not simply as names and dates, but as the continuing human story of how societies have developed, struggled, created, questioned, and imagined what might come next. I also help students organize complex material into clear frameworks that strengthen comprehension, writing, and test preparation.
Writing

Writing

I help students strengthen writing from the earliest stages of developing and organizing ideas through drafting, revising, and producing a clear final piece. My work includes academic writing, essays, personal statements, short responses, and other school-based assignments, with particular attention to helping students who struggle to translate their thoughts into written language. I integrate organization, critical thinking, grammar, and revision while adapting the process to each student's individual strengths and challenges. My goal is not simply to improve one assignment, but to help students develop a writing process they can increasingly use independently.
