I spent much of the last 20 years living outside of the United States and, as a language and cultural learner, I am passionate about helping others achieve a level of language fluency that prepares them to live, work, and study in other cultures.

Because of my own cross-cultural experience in Central and South America and Europe, I have great empathy for my students and the linguistic challenges they face. I am able to tailor lessons to meet the personal needs of individual students and my teaching style is both focused and flexible, creating a stress-free environment for language learning.

My language teaching experience includes teaching basic English to the urban poor in Uruguay and immigrants in England, Spanish to middle school students in England and high school students in Ohio, advanced English to adult students from around the world in Ohio, and English as a Foreign Language to refugees, immigrants, and university students in Italy and Ohio. I am fluent in Spanish and functional in Italian. I have a certificate of Spanish proficiency from the Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica, and an EFL teaching certification from the American TESOL Institute.

My great love for the English language and a desire to see my students flourish and integrate into culture combine to make me a highly qualified and capable English tutor. My experience teaching EFL outside of the United States has provided me with great insight into and appreciation of other cultures and languages and of the unique challenges that EFL students face.
