I worked with Doris throughout my medical school application process from the start of my applications to the end of my interview season. When I began filling out my applications, Doris provided valuable insight and helped me craft my story. Her ability to identify and understand her students' uniqueness and strengths and give tailored feedback genuinely helped me improve the quality of my writing, and ultimately helped me more effectively convey my desire to pursue medicine on my application. While working with Doris to prepare for my interviews, Doris thoroughly helped me practice a variety of scenarios and questions that one might encounter in a medical school interview. We went over both traditional and MMI interviews, and our prep sessions gave me the confidence I needed when I began interviewing at schools. I found one of Doris' strengths to be her vast experiences working with a variety of students over the years get into medical school. Oftentimes, she drew from these experiences to provide her current students with ideas or examples to better help them understand and navigate the medical school application process. In addition, outside of our sessions, she was very proactive in checking in and providing resources that she thought would help better me as an applicant during the many stages of the process, from the primary and secondary applications, the interviews, to even sending update letters. Throughout my time working with Doris, she was very attentive to my questions, provided encouragement during the many weeks of waiting and silence, and overall, dedicated her time to help me succeed. As a result of my experience, I would highly recommend her to students who are beginning their medical school application process.

Amazing CARS tutor!

Would highly recommend Doris if you're struggling with CARS or if, like me, you're approaching your test date soon and just need someone to help refine your strategy. She did just that and recognized patterns in my mistakes, by question type on CARS. Very effective tutoring, wish I had worked with her earlier in my CARS journey!

Incredible Medical School MMI Tutor

Doris was an absolutely phenomenal tutor. I had really little ability to interview before she started tutoring me. She took the time out of 4th year of medical school to prepare me for a medical school interview over the course of over 2 months and was supportive throughout. She gave a very strong foundation for successful MMI interviewing and different types of questions until I started seeing patterns and many MMI questions almost felt mundane or "easy". She ended with her own full rigorous mock interviews. By the middle of my studies, I did mock interviews with my school and the feedback was pretty surface level and almost all positive with really no specifics on how to improve given how far I came. Doris continued to sharpen every aspect of my interviewing ability from the start. I am confident I can excel tomorrow. I really could not recommend her enough.

Insights like no other

During the Fall of 2023, I worked extensively with Doris to help prepare for my medical school interviews. During this time of high anxiety and doubt, Doris took great patience, flexibility, and thoroughness to ensure I built skill AND confidence in each of our sessions. She sent materials outside our lesson times, made herself available for follow-up questions, and provided ceaseless encouragement, even mentioning her testimony to medical school. What sets Doris apart is her ability to be vulnerable with her rich story, which I am sure has resulted in her resolve and given her distinct perspective on scenarios, problem-solving, and communication. I believe that Doris's unique feedback set my interview responses from other applicants, for which I received praise during my interviews. Also, I appreciate how Doris is not like a tutor but an older sister who checks in on you and makes herself available when you are at your lowest. I wish I had met Doris earlier in the cycle when she could have helped me with essay writing, but I am lucky to have gotten to meet her at all.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor - Breakthrough with CARS: How Doris Improved My Score

Doris was an amazing CARS tutor! She helped me break down the different passage types on the MCAT, which made tackling them so much less intimidating. She also tailored specific strategies to my weaknesses, like timing, and provided a document going over Reading Beyond the Text (RBT)/Reading Within the Text (RWT)/Comprehension (CMP) specific analysis strategies, which made a huge difference in my practice scores. I haven't seen anyone break down this section the way she did, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their CARS section.
