I earned my bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Morehead State University, where I was a member of the highly competitive Honors Program. During my time there, I maintained a 4.0 GPA while completing all mathematics coursework through differential equations as well as core and upper-level calculus-based physics courses, including Modern Physics I and II. I was recognized with several awards, including Outstanding Student in the College of Science and Engineering, Engineering Sciences Outstanding Student, and Physics Program Outstanding Student. I am currently enrolled in the University of Tennessee’s Medical Physics graduate program within the Nuclear Engineering department.
For the past two years, I have worked as a tutor in the Math Teaching and Learning Center at Morehead State University, where I have provided one-on-one support to college students in mathematics and physics. In this role, I have worked with students across a range of levels, helping them strengthen their understanding in subjects from algebra through calculus and calculus-based physics. My experience has primarily been individualized tutoring, allowing me to adapt my approach to each student’s needs and learning style.
As a tutor, I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation before moving into more advanced material. I use step-by-step problem solving, practice problems, and visual explanations such as diagrams to help students fully understand the reasoning behind each step. Rather than encouraging memorization, I emphasize recognizing patterns and developing a clear problem-solving process. I am patient and intentional in making sure students truly understand the material, and I enjoy helping them reach the point where concepts begin to click. I plan to pursue a career in medical physics, and I value tutoring as an opportunity to support students while continuing to deepen my own understanding of these subjects.
