Hello! I am a writing tutor with a true passion for teaching and tutoring. I hold a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition (English) and MA and BA degrees in English. I hold a full-time position as a college writing professor and have also worked as a college writing tutor for undergrad and grad students, a writing tutor for engineering grad students, a dissertation editor, and a literacy support specialist for grades K-12.
In my tutoring sessions, I take care to establish supportive relationships with students through connected listening and encouragement. Over the past ten years, I have taught a mixture of in-person, hybrid, and online classes and tutoring sessions. My students have included K-12 students, ESL/ELL students, traditional college students, and non-traditional college students spanning in age from children to 70s. I have developed experience teaching students with a wide range of academic preparedness, and I aim to instill confidence in students and help students experience growth as readers, writers, and thinkers no matter their initial level of experience.
Similar to the way that the writing process is expansive, highly individualized, and ever-evolving, I believe that students’ learning processes as writers are the same, and my tutoring sessions are specialized to meet individual writers' needs. I have helped individuals with writing projects including college essays, personal statements, creative writing, academic articles, reports, cover letters, and more. Whether you are working on a writing project for school, work, or your own enjoyment, I look forward to working with you, learning about you and your project, and seeing your writing skills grow.
