My name is Bianca! I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biological Sciences at Northern Kentucky University, also minoring in Honors and Chemistry. I finished as the Outstanding Graduate in Biology for the senior class. As a student, I found that most classes I took my first year had tutors, but it was difficult to find tutors the deeper I got into my program. When classes got more difficult, I found that the specialized tutors were extremely helpful for me to keep up with the material (and take other classes at the same time!). I saw where I struggled in classes and use that to help tutor students myself. I plan materials and lessons to talk about and always highlight pitfalls and misconceptions that students tend to harbor.
I tutored general biology, anatomy and physiology, evolution, general chemistry, and organic chemistry for two semesters (one year of classes). I worked one-on-one with students online. Most of these students were just beginning their degree programs and needed additional help catching up with the material. I held repeating meetings with many of these students to ensure that they were progressing along and did not fall behind. Having just taken the Dental Admissions Test, I have reinforced my understanding of biology and chemistry and can outline methods for students to do well based on what has worked for my students before.
