Bio

I have an AA degree from Clark College (Washington) and then attended Shawnee State University’s (Ohio) education program until we decided to homeschool our children. I was a substitute teacher in the local school district for three years as well. I have homeschooled for 13 years with 5 more years to go. My oldest will graduate next year, having only ever been homeschooled. I am also the lead teacher at the local co-op where I teach STEM, Art, and Music History to students age 5-17. I’m also...

I’m also a math and reading tutor for two elementary students ages 8 and 9.

Having personally experienced the teaching of two very different children in my own home, I have been shown how important it is to teach to the way a child learns, and I try to determine their learning style before incorporating any lessons. A child learns best when you are gearing the material to how their brain processes information. I’ve added many hands-on activities to my tutoring of reading and math to get more of their body involved in the learning process.

Through the course of homeschooling, I’ve taught everything from elementary material to high school level subjects like physics and geometry, thus I am confident that I can tutor in many different subjects through the K-12 system.

Additionally I was a private piano instructor for 5 years with a client list of students ranging from age 5 to adult.

Nothing brings me more joy than to see the spark in a student’s eyes when they get that understanding. Their joys are my joys.
