Bio

I love the confidence and self-esteem gained from learning new things. As a result, I enjoy sharing knowledge with others because I want them to feel confident as well. I enjoy tutoring so much more than teaching because I can pass on the learning to others without having to give a grade! The one-on-one "light bulb" moment is a joyous occasion at any level of learning.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from Western Governors University in 2013 and a Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership with Technology emphasis from Georgetown College in 2017. I have math teaching experience in: Response to Intervention, 6th, 7th, 8th, Algebra I, and Geometry. I enjoy coordinating the Student Technology Leadership Program at the school in which I currently teach. This club works with Student Showcase Projects and Lego Robotics. In addition, I coordinate and tutor in the after school program.

I am a "nontraditional educator" because I did not get my teaching degree right out of high school. I was on scholarship at Morehead State University in 1992. I was distracted from my career path for a number of years. During this time, I held various jobs from restaurant to factory work. My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and we own a cattle farm. My most important job was as a stay-at-home mom for 7 years during my children's formidable years. Once I knew my own children were going to be successful, I proceeded to finish what I started. While working 3rd shift at a factory, making sure my children had good grades, I restarted and completed my coursework to becoming a certified teacher.

Because I have a variety of different experiences, I can apply math concepts in many different ways to make learning easier. I will bring the same level of passion and commitment that I applied to my personal and my children's goals to help you complete your goals as well! I love solving problems. I will be available on most nights and weekends. Please contact me if you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment.

Very interactive and fun learning

My daughter really enjoyed the session with Cindy. She made it very fun and interactive. Her personality is perfect for working with children. We'll be using her for all our future sessions. I like liked how flexible she was with scheduling the tutor session and really seemed excited about helping my daughter learn. 5 stars

Knowledgeable and kind

Cindy makes math understandable and her help with my Algebra 2 has really gotten me much better at it. I’m excited working with her on my Algebra in the future! :)

Helpful!

Cindy was helpful reviewing summer accelerated geometry with my 14-year-old daughter. I appreciated that she was flexible with her time and availability. Sometimes we needed more time and she allowed for that, last minute.

Great attitude and ability to connect

Cindy did a great job connecting with my shy kiddo. She has a good attitude and shows enthusiasm for teaching and math in general. She was able to cover, I think she said, two weeks worth of work in the classroom in one session with my daughter who really seemed to "get it".

She is kind, patient, and easy to understand

Our first time using Wyzant and my son and I had the privilege of having Cindy tutor him for Chemistry. He is shy, but Cindy's ease allowed him to be comfortable and engaging with her. Thankfully, Cindy helped my son complete Unit 1, for Chemistry 101. We look forward to our next session. Thank you for your patience!
