I love the confidence and self-esteem gained from learning new things. As a result, I enjoy sharing knowledge with others because I want them to feel confident as well. I enjoy tutoring so much more than teaching because I can pass on the learning to others without having to give a grade! I have a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education (2013), a Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership with Technology emphasis (2017), and a Rank I emphasis with duel credit math (2023). I have math teaching experience in: Response to Intervention, 6th, 7th, 8th, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. I coordinate and tutor in the after school program in my district.
I am a "nontraditional educator" because I did not get my teaching degree right out of high school. I was on scholarship at Morehead State University in 1992. I was distracted from my career path for a number of years. During this time, I held various jobs from restaurant to factory work. My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and we own a cattle farm. My most important job was as a stay-at-home mom for 7 years during my children's formidable years. Once I knew my own children were going to be successful, I proceeded to finish what I started. While working 3rd shift at a factory and helping my children keep good grades, I restarted and completed my coursework to becoming a certified teacher.
Because I have a variety of different experiences, I can apply math concepts in many different ways to make learning easier. I will bring the same level of passion and commitment that I applied to my personal and my children's goals to help you complete your goals as well! I love solving problems. Cindy reviewed factoring patterns for an upcoming test. We looked at the greatest common factoring pattern, difference of squares, perfect square trinomials, sum and difference of cubes and factor a trinomial pattern. My daughter passed her test with an above average score.
