I grew up in a household with deaf parents and began to learn ASL at the age of 7. I have spent many hours around the deaf community in multiple deaf socials and annuals with my mother and have had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with deaf people from all around the country. I also grew up a hop, skip, and jump away from the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville and often went to basketball games and other social events there at the school with my mother. I have had previous experience tutoring other college students, one of which was a friend of mine who had fallen behind in his ASL 101 class. After I spent a couple of sessions with him he ended up passing the class at the end of the semester with an A average. I greatly enjoy deaf culture and am planning to take classes at EKU to broaden my knowledge of both the language and culture of ASL. I, by no means, claim to know everything about ASL but I plan to learn that what I have yet to know and teach others that what I've learned over the years. I can't wait to start helping others in their expansion of knowledge of this language.
