From 2008-2010 I served as an ESL tutor among Somalis living in Minneapolis. In 2012 I tutored international students from the Congo in the fundamentals of the English language, and also assisted them with writing and proofreading research papers. I've been tutoring with Wyzant since April 2013.

I enjoy writing, sports, traveling, and international food and culture. My wife and I currently live in Newport, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati. We are both originally from Canton, Ohio.

I graduated from a 3-year Bible College, Christ for the Nations Institute, with straight A's. I have co-led a weekly Bible study since early 2008. I maintain an online blog with an increasing number of Bible studies, and teachings on various subjects related to the Bible. Studying the Bible has been a personal passion of mine for years, and I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have gained with others.

Softball

I played softball on a team for five years, and have played recreational softball and baseball even longer. I'm very familiar with the rules of softball, and am able to play any position (outfield, infield, catcher, and pitcher). At various points in time, I have casually taught the fundamentals of this sport to people younger than me, or to those who were newer to the game. I regularly watch Major League Baseball (MLB), and keep up very well with team and individual statistics in MLB.

Very good teacher

Really good teacher. Explain the class really well and I feel that I advance in each lesson. We went over the verbs. Explain really well and is a patient teacher.

Thank you, Julio. I've really enjoyed working with you so far as well.

Do's and Don'ts of business writing

In today's lesson Adam and I looked over and discussed some Do's and Don'ts of business writing and work-related emails. We also discussed some principles of descriptive writing, and came up with various ways to open and close emails and work memos.

Patient

Adam was great with my 11 year old - he was early for the first lesson, chatted a bit then got to work. My son said he was much more helpful than the previous tutor. Looking forward to another lesson.

Tutor responded:

Thank you, Maria. I enjoyed working with your son and I look forward to doing so again.

Engaged and Patient Teacher

Our first session in, Adam's patience and ability to engage my daughter immediately put me at ease and instilled confidence that he is going to do great things for my daughter's education.

Very helpful

Adam has helped me significantly with a particular subject I needed help in. I appreciate his patience and flexibility, his knowledge level, and the clarity of his teaching.

Aaron, 4 lessons with Adam

Wow! Beyond my expectations!

Adam did a superb job. I was very nervous about letting him see how hard it was for me to do basic math. Instead of being critical, he was patient with me, making sure I could get the understanding that I needed. If I didn't understand how he explained the answer the first time, he would find other ways to explain it so that I could understand it. I would recommend Adam to anyone. I'm very grateful!
