Bio

I am a 25 year old graduate student working towards my M.S. in Human Development and Leadership at Murray State University. I double-majored in Philosophy/History as an undergraduate and have traveled to several countries throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. As a result I have a sensitivity to different religions, languages and cultures that I feel serves me in working especially well with international students. I am a 25 year old graduate student working towards my M.S. in Human Development and Leadership at Murray State University. I double-majored in Philosophy/History as an undergraduate and have traveled to several countries throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. As a result I have a sensitivity to different religions, languages and cultures that I feel serves me in working especially well with international students. My goals are to complete my education while working part-time as a tutor and substitute teacher. I intend to become certified in both emergency substitute school teaching and TESOL.

My experiences overseas include trips as a volunteer working in Bangladesh nonprofit organizations testing drinking water for arsenic and distributing home water filters. I have also traveled to several Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Kuwait, Qatar, and UAE, as well as Morocco and the U.K. Through my experiences traveling I have become well accustomed to various beliefs and customs which makes me an excellent candidate for a tutor for any student or family. My choice subjects include English, Geography, History, and Social Studies.

I double-majored in Philosophy/History as an undergraduate, graduating with a 3.01. American history was a large component of the curriculum and as a native born American with an interest in the subject I have read numerous texts and biographies on the subject. My firm grasp of American history makes me the ideal candidate for tutoring students of all grades regardless of their program.

I am a native speaker of English with an excellent grasp of spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and composition. I made top marks in English in high school while taking additional courses from community college. As an undergraduate I majored in both Philosophy and History, which required me to greatly develop my knowledge of literature and writing. Through these experiences, I fell as though I would make an excellent candidate for tutoring students in high school or college.

I have always excelled in English, going back to high school when I took community college courses at night earning English 101 and 300 before I entered university. I hold a B.A. in Philosophy/History and graduated with a 3.01. I am now currently studying to earn my M.S. in Human Development and Leadership. I have decided to take TESOL courses towards a certificate so I may teach English as a second language overseas perhaps in the future after I graduate. I am well traveled throughout the continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe having volunteered with nonprofit organizations. Being well traveled and having an interest in linguistics, culture, education, and experience with international students makes me an excellent consideration for an ESL/ESOL tutor for high school and college aged students.

Geography

Geography has always been one of my favorite subjects in school. From a young age, I became fascinated with the globe and all of its features, peoples, and their cultures. I made top marks in both middle school and high school in Geography, from which time I also began to travel quite extensively around the world, venturing to different parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. As an undergraduate I majored in Philosophy/History and so naturally I have a firm grasp of the subject and would be happy to tutor students in high school and up.

Government & Politics

As an undergraduate I majored in Philosophy/History, two of the major foundations of the study of Government and Politics. I am well read in political philosophy espoused by both ancient and modern/contemporary authors including Plato, John Stewart Mill, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Karl Marx, the American founding fathers, among others. I graduated with a B.A. and a 3.01. As a graduate student I began studying public administration which eventually become my concentration area in Human Development and Leadership studies. Government and Politics are intertwined with public administration and law, of which I took several graduate level courses in.
